Changing the world, one friendship at a time.
Friendship Miami envisions a world which invites children with special needs to be active participants in society and community. A world which embraces children with Special Needs and thier families with love, acceptance, and friendship.

Sunday Circle
Teenage volunteers and children get together bimonthly on Sundays for “Sunday Circle” where they engage in activities such as art, baking, sports, and yoga.
This program benefits the families of children with Special Needs as well, by providing a respite for busy parents so that they may focus on themselves or their other children. The teens are backed by adult coordinators and a staff of consultants so that the parents can be free from worry knowing that their child is in the care of a responsible volunteer.

Teen Volunteers
All our programs are made possible by the generous time of our teen volunteers. As a Friendship Miami volunteer teens have a unique opportunity to work one on one with a child with Special Needs.
Our innovative programming and creative activities are designed to foster a relationship between community teenagers and the children by drawing on the love, boundless energy and dynamism of our teenage population.

Unique Activities
Yoga benefits children with a wide range of disabilities. Whether there is a physical issue or an emotional issue - such as hyper activity or inability to focus, yoga therapy offers a natural alternative treatment.
Sports with its organization and rules, can be used as a learning tool for introducing and practicing self-regulation and decision making skills. Additionally, children can learn verbal communication and interaction with peers through involvement in sports.
